Q: What time should all the guests arrive before Professor T.K. the Chemist?
A: Due to the nature of the science activities, please have your guests arrive at least 30 minutes before our party is to begin. Being late will interfere with the party activities. Our party will begin at the start time and end at the finish time.

Q: What time can I schedule my party?
A: All of our parties are held on Saturdays only based upon the following time frames: Saturdays: 10am, 1pm, and 4pm. Our party times last between 45-90 minutes, which includes our hands-on science demonstrations and activities and a group pic with Professor T.K. the Chemist!

The parties will be a scientific blast for your child and their friends.  We guarantee that they will have so much fun!  Your scientist will receive a science t-shirt and a goody bag based on the theme that you select.  We make children feel special and we want your child to know that they will be the Lead Scientist for that day!

 

Q: What time will Professor T.K. the Chemist arrive?
A: Professor T.K. the Chemist will arrive about 30-45 minutes before the party. The set-up time for our party only takes about 20-30 minutes to set up.
 

Q: Where should the birthday area/room be set up?
A: During most of our hands-on science adventures, each child is generally sitting at a table. We can set up in your kitchen/dining room and/or family room area and we will be sure to place disposable tablecloths on the table to protect the tables and the potential mess of the experiments.  Please be sure to have space provided at a table and not the floor. To ensure that nature doesn’t affect our programs, we prefer all activities take place inside the home rather than outside. Depending on the time of year, we would have to deal with the unexpected weather elements such as snow, rain, wind, humidity or even a hot sunny day.
 

Q: Are adult guests allowed to participate?
A: While we love our parents and adult guests involvement during the hands-on science adventures, it is best that they do not crowd around the table, as it is distracting to the children and difficult for them to participate. We recommend that you have an area for them to socialize or that they remain in the background and watch.  If they do participate, they will be included in the guest count as we will be using supplies and materials to cover their experiments as well. 

Q: Do any of your programs contain food items or edible experiments?
A: Depending on the science party theme you would like, there may be some edible experiments or there may be food items present. If there are any foods or materials (ex. nuts, eggs, latex, etc.) that could potentially cause allergic reactions to any one of your party guests, please inform us at least one week before the party. We will alter and provide a different type of experiment instead. The safety of our scientists is our TOP PRIORITY! 

Q: What if our numbers decrease and we don’t have the same number of guests for the party. Do we still pay that amount?
A: While we do understand that party invites change, the total amount due that was planned at the time of the reservations does not change, unless you have more guests and then we would have to increase the rate accordingly. We must be notified ahead of time if your numbers increase. To ensure that we are able to compensate our staff for their services and time, we do not alter pricing for parties under the maximum number of guests allowed. In cases where there are fewer than the included number of scientists present, we simply ensure that even more attention is provided to the guests in attendance. If you purchased additional party favors, those will be left with the parent or guardian to distribute to the children that weren’t able to attend.

Q: Will you decorate our home, church or facility with science décor?
A: We do not provide decorations other than what is being used for our science party presentations. We do take pictures in the end with party themed science props, but we do not provide decorations or decorate the facility and/or home.

Q: How early should I book my party?
A. Parties are booked on a first come, first served basis. A 50% deposit is required in order to secure the date. A minimum of a non-refundable deposit of $99 is required to  secure the date. The full payment is required 7 days prior to the date. For parties that are booked less than 7 days, we can not guarantee that you will be able to have specialized party bags and lab uniform packages with your party as our vendors require advance notice. To receive those items, your party must be booked 3-4 weeks prior. The entire birthday party fee is due at the time of the reservation is required for parties booked less than 14 days in advance. If you must cancel the party, there will be a 50% non-refundable cancellation service fee deducted from what was paid.

Q. What is the cancellation policy?
A. There will be a $75 non-refundable cancellation service fee if the party is cancelled. Additionally, there will be a 50% cancellation fee if the party is cancelled 15 days or fewer before the date of the event. Parties cancelled inside of 72 hours prior to the party will not receive a refund for the party, add on items or gift bags. If the party must be cancelled on the day of, please call 704-796-1501 and ask for the Birthday Party Contact. There is no refund for a no-call, no-show.  You will receive a credit that can be used for another rescheduled date within 30 days. 

Birthday Parties are held rain or shine, and in the case of severe weather, we will contact you personally.

Q. How should the party participants dress?
A. Although we make every effort to not splish splash everywhere, we can not guarantee that your child will not get some exciting science memories on their clothing. Parents be sure to remind your guests that this is a science based party so some messiness may occur. We are not responsible for clothing that may result in ink, paint, and other products that may gather on their clothing as a result of all of the hands-on science fun. Please dress for fun!

Professor T.K. the Chemist strategically plans professional lessons that promote multicultural experiences through activities that teach about the contributions of scientists and inventors of different ethnicities. These fun filled adventures are achieved by discovery while using real life applications, equipment and technology.

No Travel Fee: Concord, Kannapolis, Harrisburg

$35 Travel Fee: Charlotte (within 25 miles of MYGEMS Headquarters), Salisbury, China Grove, and Surrounding areas of these locations.

$45 Travel Fee: Mint Hill, Ballantyne, Lake Wylie and Surrounding areas of these locations.

$75 Travel Fee: Travel beyond 50 miles or over 1 hour driving distance from the MYGEMS Headquarters
